2010.....

Welcome 2010 !!! We as a family are very excited about this new year. I know that some people do like like New Year's Resolutions.....bah humbug to them! For our family, a new year means new committments to each other and to the Lord. Paul said, "I am resolved...." and that is our intent for 2010, to be resolved to do some things different.

Our theme verse for this year is Deuteronomy 6:5 "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." (In French: "Tu aimeras donc l'Eternel ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton ame, et de toute ta force.")

We are resolved as a family to love our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ in 2010 more than we ever have before. We each gave ideas of how we can accomplish this goal and here are a few of our ideas....1) Memorize more scripture. 2)Speak and display more of His Word in our home as Deut 6:6-9 says. 3)Each take more responsibility in our attitudes and responses that we bring into our home 4)Study themes or topics as we read our Bibles 5)We have started a Bible reading chart and prayer "time" chart that is posted in our kitchen...we write down where we have read in our Bibles and how much time we spent in prayer that day...this helps us all to be accountable and also shows us where our time is being spent.....6)Sing more hymns together in our home.......There are others, but for sake of time we will end here.

Our Theme Song for 2010 is "When We See Christ" :
Oft-times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear, we're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair; but Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away, all tears forever over in God's eternal day.......(Chorus) It will be worth it all when we see Jesus, Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ; One glimpse of His dear face, all sorrow will erase, So bravely run the race till we see Christ!

We have had many missionary families give us some suggestions and opinions of language school. They each said basically the same thing.....#1:It's a great time to bond as a family because all you have are each other.....#2:You will feel very lonely and discouragement can come easily...#3:It is the hardest thing you will ever do...especially the older you are.....

We each have to admit that each of these statements are very true and that's why we work extra hard to have fun as a family and make this "difficult" time of learning a new language and new culture as easy and fun as we can for our children. There is loneliness here and at times we feel so alienated from our family, friends and love ones.....but that's where our family theme song comes into play....we want to remember that whatever trials and long days come our way...it will be worth it all when we see Christ!!!!

We are resolved in 2010 as a family, to serve Christ where ever He leads us and where ever He sends us......How about you? "He who aims at nothing will hit nothing." What are your aims and goals for 2010?
