Our Family Picture....The Real Us!

The "Real" us....

We decided to get some family pics while Kami's mom is here with us in St. Barths this week.  During our photo shoot, we decided to show the "real" us.  It never fails that whenever we want to take a picture, we are always dragging kids back into the pose, rabbit ears always seem to creep in, and Josh is normally doing something crazy to his siblings.........anybody else have days like this?

Together Again!

Sorry about the delay posting, but we are getting back into the 'swing of things' again.  Kami, her mom, and the rest of the family all made it safely to St. Barths last Saturday evening.  It was a long day of traveling but we praise the Lord that everything went well.

After several days of the seas being rough, the Lord gave Kami & the family nice calm seas by Saturday evening as they took the ferry boat from St. Martin.

Our first week back has been filled with plenty of un-packing suitcases, running around taking care of errands, making some visits, and getting back to "family" life on our little island.

We have enjoyed having Kami's mom here and she even treated us to hamburgers & fries last night for dinner!  She will be leaving on Saturday and we are asking the Lord for good weather as she travels back.

This Sunday is Mother's Day here on St. Barths and we have some special things planned for our Sunday service.   We are excited about getting back into the ministry here on St. Barths and seeing what the Lord is going to do in the upcoming year!

Almost all here...

Joshua and I arrived on Tuesday evening after a full day's worth of traveling.  We got in the car at 2:15 in the morning and drove to Ft. Lauderdale International Airport.  We had a 4-hour layover in San Juan and then traveled to St. Martin.  Our plane to St. Barths was an hour late so we finally made it into St. Barths around 6 P.M.  We were exhausted but glad to be home!

We have been able to get the house re-stocked with groceries, pay bills, get our cell phone working again, and take care of plenty of errands.

We had a great time in Florida and enjoyed our time with family so much.  We were able to have many doctor appointments, get re-stocked in clothing & shoes, get eye glasses for 4 members of our family, and have a new baby as well!  It was a busy time but we enjoyed it.  I was also able to preach several times and our family also got to visit Ms. Booher's class at Gospel Baptist School which has been sending letters and praying so faithfully for us!

Kami, her mom, and the rest of the kids will be traveling on Saturday (tomorrow!) back here to St. Barths.  They will be taking the boat and we are praying that the sea is not rough.  (It has been pretty rough the past couple of days.)

Please pray for their safety and we look forward to being back home as a family again...plus 1 more...little Micah!

Our family of 8 is about to head home...

We finally received Micah's social security card and we filed for his passport this past Wednesday.  (We also filed to renew Josh's & Brenna's U.S. passports as well but theirs isn't as important because they can travel back to St. Barths on their french passports.)

We paid for the rush service for Micah's and even though we were told that it takes 2-3 weeks to get it delivered, most are coming back in 10 days.

With that news, we purchased tickets to return to St. Barths.  Josh and I will travel back on the 22nd of May (Tuesday) and the rest of the family will follow on the 26th of May (Saturday).  We are anxious to get back home and Silas has told us that he wants to sleep in his bed at "Daddy's house".

Josh and I will get the house ready and stocked with food for the rest of the family.  Kami's mom will also be coming back to help us get all of the little ones safely home and also to help Kami get back into the swing of things back on the mission field.

Please be in prayer that Micah's passport gets back on time for their trip and everyone will have safe travels as well...not to mention calm seas as the rest of the family will be taking the boat from St. Martin to St. Barths!

Birth Certificate, Social Security Numbers....& shot records?

Yesterday, we called the Health Department here in Fort Myers and we were told that Micah's birth certificate was ready to be picked up.  So I went to the Health Department and paid for two copies of his birth certificate!  Praise the Lord....one thing off of our list!

After I received the birth certificate, I went directly to the social security office to see if I could at least receive the Micah's social security number to be able to apply for his passport.  We were told that Micah is not registered with the Social Security Department and we must do that ourselves in person.

So this morning (Wednesday), Kami and I went down to the Social Security office with Micah's birth certificate.  We were told that we cannot file for a SS number until Micah is between 6-8 weeks old.  We questioned this issue and finally were told that we could go ahead and register him.  However, we would need to have an additional ID for Micah along with his birth certificate.....huh?  What other ID could a 3-week old have besides his birth certificate?  After pressing this issue, were then told to get his immunization record from the doctor...which I really don't know how that is supposed to identify him any better than his official birth certificate.

Needless to say, we finally got him registered and should receive his social security number in 1-2 weeks.  After this, we then can apply for his passport.

We have also been dropping-in on some of our supporting churches while here in Fort Myers.  We have enjoyed seeing friends from supporting churches and knowing that there are so many people praying for our family.  I also will be preaching a couple of times in the next two weeks as well.

Until next time.....
