Update on our Prayer Request...

I just wanted to give a quick update on our prayer request for our paperwork from France.  The lady that has been working on our file is still waiting for the government of St. Thomas (where I was born) to send her some legislation that is needed before she can finalize my paperwork so we can apply for French passports.  She has been waiting for over 5 months now and cannot get anyone to answer her emails or calls from the government in St. Thomas.

She has since tried to contact the French Consulate in Miami to help her get this legislation but the lady with whom she needs to speak with is on vacation until the end of July.  She then told us there is nothing that she can do right now to complete our paperwork and that she will be on vacation for one month starting on July 18th! 

Our specific prayer request is that the lady in France will receive the documents from the St. Thomas government before she leaves for vacation and that she can finalize our paperwork before July 18th.  Please be in prayer for us about this matter.....

Urgent Prayer Request.........

     Most of you know that we are still waiting for our paperwork from France to be returned so that we can start the application process for our French Passports.  Thus, all we have right now are our U.S. Passports.  We were aware that when we moved here, we would only be permitted to stay for 3 months with our U.S. Passports before we would have to leave the country. 

     We were not sure exactly how long we would have to leave the country for before we could return.  Yesterday, Kami and Josh went to the Gendarme (Police) and asked them about this process.  We had originally thought that we would only have to leave the country for a week or so and then return.  However, the Gendarme, who was extremely nice, told Kami that we would have to leave St. Barths for 6 months! 

     When he saw the look of panic in Kami's eyes, he smiled and said, "But if you happen to stay an extra  month or two, it's okay.  It's different here on St. Barths, it's not like we will come and hunt you down or something..."   

     Well, we have been here almost two months and we are still waiting on the paperwork to be completed in France.  Please be in prayer about this for us.  God's timing is always perfect and He has never failed us and never will.  So thus, we are asking that you please keep this matter in prayer and ask God to provide this paperwork in the right time so that we will not have to leave St. Barths.

(As a side note: Kami, the kids, my grandmother and Aunt Mariane went to the horse show here on St. Barths last Sunday afternoon.  Silas got to sit on a horse.  He didn't like it at first, but that soon changed and he loved being on the horse!)

Quick Update.............

No, we still do not have home-phone service at our house nor internet.    We were told that it would be another 2 months at least.  However, when we went back to the phone company, they said that hopefully it shouldn't be much longer.  Hopefully soon we will be able to make regular updates.

We are able to ship 12 more boxes of our things this week.  They will be picked up from Florida on Friday and put on the ship next Thursday.  Thus it will be another 2 weeks before our stuff arrives.  We are not able to ship all of the rest of our stuff, but praise the Lord we are able to ship a few things and especially the rest of the kid's school books!  They can't finish their school until their literature books come in, then read the books and finish their P.A.C.E.S. for school.

This past Sunday, we had one lady come to our Sunday Bible Study.  This was our second Sunday in which we have had a Bible study and meal starting at 10:30.  She had a great time and wants us to pick her up every Sunday from now on.  She gave us a clear account of accepting Christ as her Saviour in February of 1980 when she was in Michigan.  However, she has not grown as a Christian very much and has had a very hard life including the death of a son.  However, she is excited to start learning the Bible and growing as a Christian. 

Please continue to pray for the people of St. Barths.  We love the people here and care for them so much.   They are a precious people.  We are trying to get them to understand that they must trust in the Word of God and not in a man, a priest, or a religion.  It will take time, but eventually, we trust that many will come to know Christ as their Saviour.

Please also continue to pray for our paperwork from France that we are waiting on.  We cannot get our French passports until this paperwork comes in.  We are only allowed to stay on the island using our American passports for 3 months, then we must leave.  God's timing is perfect and we trust and pray that the paperwork will be in right on time!  We know so many of you are praying for our family and we can see that God has answered so many of our prayers, it's amazing!  Thank you for your prayers for our family.
