Update on Kami and the new baby....

Nothing.................

It's now 7PM and nothing.........Even though her water broke this morning, she has had maybe 5 contractions. Hopefully things will kick into affect pretty soon!

Baby Coming Soon!

Well, today...Tuesday, May 4th......we woke up, read our Bibles, prayed, ate home-made muffins, and were getting ready for language school.

It all seemed like a normal day when Kami told me that she thought her water broke. After a contraction or two we decided it was time to notify our midwife and have our translators ready to come on a moments notice. We are having the baby with the mid-wife here at home. We put the kids to making sure everything is clean and prepared. (Kami had given them jobs to accomplish...everything is ready and the van is packed (just in case of any problems).

Now it is just a waiting game. I told Kami that she needs to have this baby today (during the day....as in.....don't wait until 2 AM!)

We will keep you posted when the baby arrives!

Joshua is back!

Thank you to all of you who prayed for Joshua on his trip to Nova Scotia! He made it back in today safe and sound.

We want to thank as well, Sackville Independent Baptist Church and the Eastwood family for hosting Joshua and providing for his trip.

Joshua enjoyed the preaching, singing, games, skits, sports time, and church services so much. He even had the oportunity to sing in a men's group in the service's Sunday evening. The Lord worked in his heart and he made some great decisions for the Lord and rededicated some things in his life as well.

He is glad to be home and we are glad to have him back!

Fiddleheads....A New First!

We went to the nature trail/walking park with the girls and Silas on Saturday. (Joshua is in Nova Scotia this weekend) On our way, we saw the fern shoots coming up and I mentioned to Kami and the girls that I thought you can eat these things. As we walked further into the trail/woods, we saw a man picking something on the side of the river. A little further down the trail, I saw a man and a woman picking some items from along the river as well. I went up to the man and asked what they were gathering. He told me they were gathering fern shoots. After a brief description on how to cook them (just like you would green beans basically), they gave us some. Brenna got real excited and started gathering more. Once home, we washed them thoroughly (dirt, pet urine...you never know what could be on them!)
We put them in a skillet with butter and lots of fresh garlic. We added some salt and pepper and sauteed them until they looked tender.

We dished them out........and the verdict???

We all thought they were very good!

When Josh gets back Monday, we are heading back to the park to pick some more. He will love getting out in the woods with his pocket knife and gathering "survival food"!
